Thou shalt not fall. Wasn’t that written in the holy book? Too late for that. The darkness churned around me as I felt the despair clutch my heart. A wind picked up and stirred the waves to manhandle my boat. I wished for a measure of the power that was wrenched from me. The power to control the seas; the power to reach the innermost heartscapes. I felt the loss, the beauty that I would never be a part of again. The Unknown. The Forgotten.

A low moan escaped my parched lips and slowly grew to a wail. The heavens had closed to me forever and I just cannot bear it. My heart broke in that moment as I stood in my skiff, surrounded by clear blue water and skies filled with gentle clouds. My fists tore at my hair and came away empty. Like my life. Nooooooooo. . .
