He had been tracking strange occurences for years. He'd made the occult,the strange and weird and everything else that can't be explained into his specialty,built a career on it.
Currently he was tracking what he felt sure was a reality shift. a sudden change in balance could mean the born of a new power, and he hoped to find it or him/her and try to turn it to his side. he didn't any power.only knowledge. and all he could do with it was influence other people and it didn't always work.he could really use someone who could be a little more...active. none of the ones he'd found had worked out. someone had gone with other people. chosen a different side. others had run away,gone underground. one or two had simply ignored everything and continued with their lives as if nothing had changed.
maybe he needed to change his approach. he probably started too dark with all the gloom and monsters and responsabilities.
other people,especially those who chose to use their particular abilities and knowledge for their own gain,just wanted fun. they wanted to see the world,to explore this new world that had opened upon them snd they were all too young to care about the fate of the world or to help strangers or hang out with a old boring scholar who talked about weird and impossible things.
the only ones who did seem to care were his students. some of them believed the knowledge was purely theorical,mythology,folklore, wives' tales, interesting to research but not actually true. thankfully, those were only a handful. the majority did believe in what he taught them,and were willing to help with whatever projects he had going on. the only problem was his current number of student was very low. only 5 were actually majoring in his field. the rest was taking the class as extra credit or as a minor.
