I'm a former broadcast journalist (OK, almost nobody does any actual journalism on TV, so let's just say I was a "newsman."). I left the industry after cracking the top 5 markets and quickly realizing that the product was just as crappy there as it is in smaller markets. Then I moved to Cincinnati, and I discovered that TV news is pretty much worse here than in market 175. Anyway, I got a master's degree and switched to teaching high school. But we have a baby and my wife makes the real dough and I had a chance to do a little ghost writing, so I'm half-time Daddy and half-time writer. And my wife tells me that while I'm not longer a VIP, I am easier to be around than when I worked in an industry that regularly irritated me.
