Excerpt: October Moon

Rose knew she was dreaming. She pretty much always knew when she was dreaming. If she concentrated really, really hard she could even manipulate her dreams. Have them turn out the way she wanted them to turn out. Make certain events happen. Make certain people appear or even disappear for that matter. Turn hot guy’s clothes into nothing but air as they stood naked in all their male glory before her. Sometimes it could be fun having all the control, but sometimes it wasn’t. She didn't know why she had that useless talent. Maybe she was just super in-tuned with her subconscious or something.

Too bad her current dream wasn’t one of those she could control. She didn't know where she was and no matter how hard she tried she couldn't change her dream self's location or what her dream self was seeing. What was she seeing? Squinting, she concentrated on the fog, smoke, and shadows in front of her. The dimness didn't exactly make for a prime viewing experience. She took a step forward and whatever, whoever was in front of her moved further away. It was a bunch of nothing and it was beginning to annoy her to no end
