Brief Author Bio: Approaching November another year freakishly older and improperly employed, I look to NaNo as a chance to avoid responsibility and accountability for another month at least -- this as or more important than the exhilaration of producing bad art, learning discipline, incidental self-improvement &c. Adding a new wrinkle this year: will spend every noveling hour intoxicated. That goes for these summaries, too, of course. |

Synopsis: [wanting the sea...]
My novel genre might more appropriately be described as mainstream fiction of the 1930s, but in 2008 I guess that goes down as litfic. ;)
1933, a transatlantic voyage. Two strangers: one running away, the other compelled toward; one bound by lies, the other aching for truth. Past and future are all, but have no place at sea.
Searching my heart for its true sorrow,
This is the thing I find it to be:
That I am weary of words and people,
Sick of the city, wanting the sea...
Edna St Vincent Millay, "Exiled"
