Synopsis: Aquiescence

It is the future.

The visions they had were of gleaming skyscrapers, silver and white, of technology and medicine and equality for all. Their hope reached into space. They sought stars, but today it is dark. Smog coats the world, waste orbiting in decaying circles. The earth is dirty and sick, plugged into a life support machine, pipes like veins rooting into the last depths of its resources. The humans themselves are artificially sustained. Progression has halted as the people concentrate on surviving to produce the next generation. The government is faceless, dictating the sprawling cities, regulating and rationing every commodity, watching everybody everywhere. Money is irrelevant; the Earth is dying, exhaling its last in clouds of poisonous gas. They live in the light of a bright star on the horizon and remember the days in which it was the mark of a saviour.

It is time.
