Tori smiled. “You seem less than thrilled.” She moved over and sat next to her friend. “Look. I need something to do this weekend. That’s all. I have no intentions of getting in your way at all. You’re there to ogle the stars, and I’m going to be there to enjoy the company of a great many intelligent men, most of whom you tell me are single, straight, will be educated if not already, and will completely carry the conversation, be all to happy to tell me how little I know about whatever geekdom brought them out of the wood work. I get to enjoy not having to be the interesting one, and at the same will probably never once have to buy my own drinks. I promise I will not crimp your fun.”
Allison smiled a bit, warming to spending some of her favorite weekend of the year with her best friend as well. “I’m sorry, it’s been a weird few days.” She exhaled slowly. “I should be happy you want to see where my entire summer goes.”
Tori nodded in agreement. “Between making your costumes and playing that game, you do kind of go all Salinger on us during the summer.”
Allison had to concede that point, “Okay. I’m okay with it. Have you planned your panels yet?”
Tori shook her head. “Panels?”
Allison smiled. “You picked the right friend to go to your first Fantasia-con with.”
