Excerpt: Luxen Water Carnevale

There is a town in the north west side of a city, where four kids shared most of their childhood life. The town sits at the edge of a highway that lines the coastline of the large island. Off the coast of the small town of Herm, was a group of house and just near the shore is a small playground where the four kids usually come out to play. They would lie down forming a circle on a small carousel, their heads placed beside each other. There they would dream all kinds of stuff and talk about how they want to be when they grow up.

Each of them are only months passed fourth grade and the youngest of them just got thru his second grade. Rom Astanie, the leader of the gang is always there first. He is often seen wondering around the play-area as if in search of something no one in town ever though was there. One day, a girl was walking with her mom when she saw a young boy sitting on a sesaw alone. Her eyes followed the young boy even as she came into the house and after a while, she decided to come out. Her name was Hellen Andreas and she and Rom were the first to build the old gang of Herm. Soon after, two more came in to join them. Rupert Pilar, a boy who’s a year younger than the two and Anthony Cruz, who had just got into his second grade. More would have followed the gang of four but shortly after they were formed, a group of men came to each of their houses and for weeks this had been happening all over town.

One day, as the four were playing on the small carousel, Hellen’s mom called out and with her were everyone else’s parents, they were shouting for their attention and as they looked around they saw several large cargo trucks driving and parking all over the small town of Herm and soon, men with uniforms of all sort were all over the place. Soon, the four finds themselves riding in their own cars, all of their belongings packed on a truck or two behind them as they each drove away from what until that time happens to be the place they call home.
