Synopsis: The Loose End
A character sells the secrets of his own government to another country. The plot becomes complex, with many separate threads and loose ends. Then the main character dies, leaving all the readers staring blankly at the last page with no way of ever finding out the conclusions of anything.
Well, tough luck for them! The main character doesn't get to find out any conclusions either! *sticks tongue out*
Basically, this is a novel illustrating the quintessential cliffhanger, as revenge for all those novels where the main character ALWAYS makes it to the end and gets a conclusion to the whole mess. My sympathies are with the side-kick, who always dies. (Well, HE doesn't get to see the end, does he?)
Thus, my novel is born.
"The Loose End" refers to all the loose ends left loose at the end of the novel (end? hah!), and the one "loose end" that brought about the demise of the main character - mainly, a government mole who wasn't really a mole. He was only pretending to be pretending to be pretending to be a mole. (That's why the main character died. He couldn't figure it out either.)
