I knew this was wrong. Still, the knowledge that this was such a big sin didn't seem to defer me from what I intended to do. What we planned to do. Elijah reached out and grabbed my twitching hand in a secure hold. I suppose he was trying to be comforting and I thank him for that. He offered a smile and I mirrored it. "It'll be all right, darling. I promise." Just barely a whisper, the pledge floated on air, reaching only it's intended, me. Both of us knew that it was a lie. Nothing was all right, nothing would ever be all right. That's exactly why we were doing this. That's exactly why we were going to kill ourselves.
