Synopsis: Enough noise to wake the dead (working title)

I killed myself five months ago. It was one of the more stupid things I did. It was about a boy.

It wasn't even for a very good reason. Of course, we all have perfect 20/20 hindsight vision, but it was dramatic and over the top and thoughtless and all those other stupid things that seem to interpunct my life like a bunch of angry commas.

Commas, not a period. The distinction is quite important. Apparently, taking your own life is not only a sin in most major religions on earth, but it's also a sin where it actually counts: the Empire. Let me tell you about the Empire. It's where dead people pass through on their way to Heaven, Hell, Reincarnation, wherever it is they need to go like so many dark-tied businessmen in a traffic jam. My point is that the government of the Empire acts like a huge filter, picking out the people that committed such atrocities that they can't go to wherever they need to go just yet.

So the official of the Empire, which looked like a bad hollywood movie where the postproduction guys went crazy with the sepia tones by the way, he gave me two options: spend two point six lifetimes doing what sounded like data entry to me, or spend half that time doing 'missions' directly for the emperor.

As I stand here in front of the graveyard of a Court of the Dead that chose to rebel against the Empire I wonder if making that choice was another one of those stupid, dramatic bad choices I make.
