Red Water
an excerpt

The view out of the little port-hole window was...breath taking. And not in the conventional way of being so utterly gorgeous as to make one pause and wonder about how some Creator had fathomed such a perfectly shaped world, with flowing rivers full of crystal clear water that bounded over smoothed, worn rocks and trees that swayed in an endless dance of nature and the wind’s manipulation. No, no – it was not that kind of breath taking at all. Of course the scene Jayden saw laid out below the comfortable float boat indeed held all these glorious miracles of nature, so continuous that the boat seemed to barely cast a perceptible shadow on the top of the trees. This was the region of the Mountain and Nahanni Rivers, surrounded by towering mountains and with the land only being broken by deep canyons that appeared to leap out of the bottle green tree line. Unfortunately for Jayden, the dipping landscape that shifted and swelled beneath her had a way of taking her breath away and giving her an overpowering and desperate need gasp deeply and repeatedly into a brown paper bag that was well used by the time they landed within the deep woods of British Columbia.
