Synopsis: Not An Easy Choice

Khyansaria 'Khy' Ellisand is pretty much a normal girl, once you get past the facts that she's from two of the eight elected royal families, she is the second youngest black-robe ever to graduate from the Mage's Academy (and her father Dmitri was the first), and her abnormal ability to turn things in her direction.

But her life takes a turn for the worse when she meets Lyssia, a fire priestess who couldn't quite pass off as normal. Lyssia likes dangerous games, and soon Khy finds herself falling into a deadly mix of politics, criminals, and magic. Lots of magic. She finds herself slipping more and more easily into a world she once thought she would spend her life combating. Eventually, Khy takes the most dangerous risk of all- becoming one of them.

The city police have tried and failed to catch a mysterious assassin with morals and magic. They call upon the elite, the spymaster of Illanen, Dmitri Ellisand. He vows to bring the assassin to justice, unknowingly dragging his whole family with him into a power play that is bigger than they can forsee.

Eventually, Dmitri and Khy will have to make the choices that could lead to the destruction of their family, their city, their country, and possibly their world. Or they could lead to it's salvation. The only question is, what will those choices cost?
