Synopsis: Adathor and Kira

This year's NaNo attempt continues from a 33k story I've been working on (not very hard) for five years. Needless to say my wordcount will be in addition to this.

Adathor is an orphan, forced to fend for himself from an early age, raised by the crude streets of the wharf district. One day, his feet carry him to the wealthy side of town, full of trust and pity, where he quickly learns the spoils of dishonesty and trickery. Starting at rock bottom, the boy establishes himself within the Dabre Church, a powerful and dangerous religious organisation. With a ruthless aggression, Adathor builds alliances and destroys rivals, his power rapidly growing.

Meanwhile, the Dabre Church attempts to silence all remaining threats; the Nuarlon, who crossed the Great River an age ago rather than relinquish their beliefs, promising death to any to trespass their shores, and their remaining counterparts, the peaceful Naturalists, a small minority who practise in secret across the city. The High Council, a once-unbiased government appointed to rule the city, has been compromised by Dabre Church spies, and struggles to track or police the Church’s actions. Furthermore, the Nuarlon issue a deadly threat with no clear provocation, and several Naturalists are murdered across the city…

Amidst the social unrest, Adathor meets Kira, the daughter of a chair in the High Council. A wasted mind born to idealistic and oblivious parents, Kira uses her talents to rival Adathor's dark pursuits, sparking a deadly, lust-fuelled game of dare behind the lines of law, politics and religion. It grows into a twisted love, and together they form a secret society with one ultimately destructive goal; anarchy.
