"You were married," she said.
"Well, yeah, I mean it wasn't a big deal," I reasoned.
"And I was married."
"You were married?"
"Ten years," she said. "It was a big deal."
"Huh."
"And your mom died."
"Three years ago," I said. "Kind of a big deal."
"Three years?" She fiddled with her hair. "I thought it was a recent thing."
"No. Yes. Isn't three years recent?" I asked.
"It's just, your house--I don't know."
