Synopsis: Midnight
Midnight. The time when magic ends. The time when you have to become a normal person once again. The time when you are the most vulnerable. The time when even the strongest becomes weak. The time when you feel like a part of you is missing. And the time when it is the easiest to kill you. At least, that's the way it is when you're a magic user.
You see, the world I live on, Solmali, is a dangerous place for magic users to live. They are hated and feared by all. Most of the magic users aren't bad, but the evil ones have given them a bad name. Magic users have been forced to go into hiding. If anyone found out that you were a magic user they would send the Gerliods after you. The Gerliods would then track you down and kill you. See, the Gerliods are the magic seekers. They were once human, but an evil curse befell them. They look like a cross between a wolf and a griffin. Everyone fears them, but only the magic users hate them.
Anyways, I guess this story really begins just before my thirteenth birthday. A terrible famine had spread across the land. People everywhere were starving, even the rich folks. Of course the famine was instantly blamed on us magic users, even though we had nothing to do with it. Soon after the famine started a large group of Gerliods burned the large city of Thistle to the ground, under Queen Jeffera's orders. Thistle had more magic users living in it than any other place. That's when we knew that it had begun. The Queen is trying to wipe out every magic user in the land, and she has the entire nation against us. We are outnumbered, but it doesn't matter. We will not go down without a fight.
