Synopsis: Upward
(Title is subject to change.)
The wild adventures of one Captain Asher Lee and his crew, of the airship Osprey. Set in a world where steam-driven technology has flourished, where the rich of society get a view of the sky and the poor...well, the poor get screwed.
And there are pirates, like our good captain and his stalwart companions. Unfortunately for them, there is also a Royal Air Navy that frowns heavily on piracy, and with their forces cracking ever more heavily down on the roving scoundrels of the skies, our dear Osprey and its crew may be in trouble.
Excerpt: Upward
That just left the two of them, and Asher leaned forward, chin rested on his interlaced fingers as he peered at Jensen.
"You still think this whole plan is utterly daft," he remarked. It didn't sound like a question.
Jensen paused, searching for more diplomatic words. "I think it's reckless," he settled on; for as eccentric as Asher could sometimes be, he was never a man Jensen felt the need to lie to to please. Knowing him, he'd have seen right through it anyway; the man had a gift for dealing with people, and read them with ease. "If we've overestimated either ourselves or the Peregrine, or underestimated this Vissray, we could be in a lot of trouble."
"And do you think that's the case?" he prompted further, briefly unfolding his hands to smooth back his hair, one of those little habitual gestures of his.
"It's too soon to say," Jensen admitted. "We could pull this off. But there's a very real chance that we won't."
Asher looked momentarily solemn; he was in fact capable of it. One could almost forget that sometimes, especially when he got caught up in his fantastical daydreams, but he was a smart man under all the flair and excitement.
"Well," he finally said, lips quirking into a grin. "Today is sure to be an interesting day, one way or another."
Jensen had to smile, if only a little. "That it is, captain."
