Excerpt: Joey and the Renegade

Joey sat in one of the chairs that surrounded the table that extended from the control panel. It swiveled slightly as she climbed into it and she pushed herself off from the table to set the chair spinning slowly.

"What are you doing?"

"I'm reconnecting the temporal guidance system."

Joey had no idea what a temporal guidance system was, but it sounded important. "Why was it disconnected?"

"It makes it harder for the Bowlers, those coppers, as you say, to track me. The computer says I'm going to 1783 and I end up in 2291."

"Where's that?"

"I thought i told you to keep quiet."

Joey spun the chair again, this time harder so that it spun so fast that the world around her turned into a blur. She stopped suddenly and the man was standing over her, "we're here."
