Brief Author Bio: I am a Junior (and self-proclaimed nerd) at MRLH who loves current events, Jesus, expressing my oppinions, and logic. I also love to write in my spare time, but that's nearly impossible outside of November because I have 10 extracurricular activities. (Yes I counted.) |

Excerpt: Roaelyn
She harrumphed and stood, pacing around the tiny amount of floor space while Gideon tended the fire. She didn’t even notice when he rose.
It just so happened that at his unfortunate moment Roaelyn’s ankle caught on a loose floorboard and she tripped, right into Gideon. His arm shot out to catch her, but he wasn’t fast enough and Roaelyn hit the cook stove.
The good news was that she caught herself before her whole body could touch the stove. The bad news was that to catch herself, she turned to the side. And as a result of this, she burnt the entire left side of her body on the hot surface.
Her mouth opened in a silent scream as her body fell limply to the floor. Gideon was immediately at her side, apologizing. “I’m so sorry. This whole thing is my fault. I should have never brought you here. Roaelyn, are you all right? Are you unconscious? Roaelyn, can you hear me?”
She could hear him just fine, but the burning pain coursing through every last nerve ending, roasting her left side alive was a little bit distracting.
...
Daniel and Kyle stood in their room with nothing to do. Charlie had gone downstairs and Matt and David had left their room. They had tried to figure out a way to leave (or at least Daniel did) but no one really seemed interested in leaving this story except him. The reaches of her subconscious mind were quite interesting to them and they were only just begining to explore this very strange world.
“Hey, why don’t we go downstairs,” said Daniel, bored.
“Okay,” Kyle agreed. “I want to get something to eat at a tavern. I love fantasy worlds. Haley’s is kind of sstrange, though, at points.”
Daniel nodded. “Sure. But she has some cool stuff. Like that guy we saw die a little earlier. That was really morbid and cool. She must have lots of fun in her spare time, thinking of weird stuff like this. In fact, she’s probably writing about bad stuff happening to us right now.”
A burning ball of fire burst into the room through the window, igniting the cot next to them.
“Nice.” Kyle’s voice was appreciative. The fire burned nothing.
