Excerpt: Death's Messenger Part II

It has been three years since Isabella had passed away after giving birth to two little miracles, Charles and Lewis. The two boys had grown well from having lost their mother at such a critical time, and thanks to Alicia being their wet nurse, the two had thrived and grew strong and healthy.
The two had become friends with Alicia's little girl, Mabel, who was as lively and mischievous as the twins were. The three little toddlers made sure to keep, Reginald, his mother, Clara Hall, and Alicia Nash on their toes with the percent for getting into things and out of rooms.
Katherine spent as much time as she could down in the small house, watching the twins as they grew. she often sat them down and told them about their mother, Katherine knew that they would not be able to remember much of what she told them, but she did not mind telling her stories over and over again. She also spent the time getting to know Clara.
Clara was a no nonsense woman, who was head strong and reminded Katherine a lot of Malle, and how she was with the staff within the Manor while she was alive, adopting them all. The two spent most of their time talking about the latest news within the village, as well as that outside of the Village. They also discussed the Plague and how each had lost people to deadly disease. Clara had lost her husband, and youngest daughter.
Reginald was now working as the manager of the flour mill, taking over from the late Jesper Adams, who had died during the winter the year before, he had been getting on in years and was tiring easily, Reginald had taken over most of his duties just before he died, leaving the man some time to spend resting.
