Brief Author Bio: Although this is my first semester of college, I'm going to attempt writing two 75K word novels this November. In regards to college, I'm an English major who has absolutely no idea what I want to do in life because I have far too many random and varied interests. I've written three novels, none of which I'm seeking to publish yet, and if it weren't for NaNo and the wonderful people who participate I probably would still be stuck in half-draft mode. |

Synopsis: BN&GoF1 & 2
EDIT: Novel #1 is complete as of November 15th @ 75,621 words!!!
There are two synopses; I'm writing two novels this year.
BN&GoF1:
After being attacked, twelve-year-old Ben receives a visit from a man who claims to know Ben's MIA father who'd left his mother before Ben was even born. Much to his mother's concern, Ben is suddenly whisked into a world where he should have lived, a world of magic, inner power, and a quest for righteousness. Ben soon discovers that he's not only being introduced to this world to join his family's legacy, but also because an unknown but dangerous threat lurks in the shadows.
Then, when disaster happens, Ben and his new friends Liam and Georgia set out on a voyage to find and destroy the menace... and face much more than they bargained for.
BN&GoF2:
It's been several months after the sudden disappearance of Mason, the man behind the murder of Ben's father, and Ben, wary still, nevertheless continues his studies in order to be able to inherit what is rightfully his. But the division between the Districts is growing as accusations of kidnappings, attacks and treachery increase in number and intensity.
Then the unspeakable happens: BJ, Ben's own mentor and leader of the J District, goes missing, and along with him the information of an innovation he and Ben have discovered in magic. Ben has an inkling who is responsible, but allies are spreading perilously thin and life is getting much more complicated for the young leader-in-training. Acknowledging the possibility that this information could destroy his world forever, Ben sets off again to confront the enemy he thought had been defeated, and meets many more he'd not anticipated....
Excerpt: BN&GoF1 & 2
Very badly written, because it's late and I was rushing to 60K and geez, it's NaNo!!! QUANTITY NOT QUALITY!!!
"Ben, have you ever wondered how your father died?"
The question took Ben off guard and he jerked a little bit. Sam leaned a little closer next to him as if to silently support him, and the three of them stared, transfixed, at what Tricia might say next.
"There's an old saying," Tricia said. "Two can keep a secret if one of them is dead. Your father shared a secret with Mason. It wasn't as if he were introduced to this secret by Mason; no, your father and his snooping ways stumbled upon this secret. But he had to be sure of things before he told anyone about them, and one of those things was ensuring that his hunch was right.
"He came here, you know. Found our hideout, though Mason is still trying to figure out how that happened. Where he got the information. When we found him, there was no denying who he was or what he was doing here. After that, it wasn't very hard..."
Ben leapt up from the couch and lunged towards Tricia, his rage boiling within him. Sam and Liam jumped up and held him back as Tricia manipulated something threatening in front of her.
"It's energy, Ben, and it can kill you," she said, toying with it as he struggled against Sam and Liam's hold.
"Murderer!" he shouted. "You killed my father!"
"I'm afraid you have the wrong person, Mr. North," a cold voice said behind Ben. Ben felt his heart clench and his skin go cold. "Why would I give up the credit for so great a deed?"
