Brief Author Bio:

What better way to describe myself, an aspiring writer, than with a quote from a play by an already distinguished writer?

"Day and night I am obsessed by the same persistent thought; I must write, I must write, I must write. . . . No sooner have I finished one story than I am somehow compelled to write another, then a third, after a third a fourth. I have no choice." - The Seagull, Anton Chekov

Synopsis: If Time Permits

Despite initial setbacks, Project Temporary -- an effort to manufacture the first, operational time machine -- was progressing at a slow, but steady rate. That is, until the newly elected administration of the United States decides to cut off all funding for the project and effectively shuts it down. One of the physicists on the project, Reese Hayes, finding herself suddenly unemployed knows that she's lost something even more precious to her than her occupation: her lifetime dream. It didn't matter that their reasoning was inarguable, and that tampering with time was not only expensive, but also proving to be potentially dangerous. Science, as far as she was concerned, took sacrifice and risk. And she wasn't about to give up.

Attempts to get the project back up and running prove futile, especially when the government gives the scientist an ultimatum: any further continuation of the project will result in severe consequences. With the help of her eidetic memory, though, she is able to recreate the blueprints for her time machine from scratch. But when it comes to building the thing, she doesn't know where to begin. Neither does she know anyone with the knowledge that she needs. It seems as though her hard work has been a waste, along with the rest of her life's aspirations.

Enter Oliver Braun.

He's a man that seems all too familiar to her despite the certainty that they've never before met. They're polar opposites in almost every regard, yet they become fast friends regardless. Seemingly more coincidental, he's an English engineer visiting the States with the necessary know-how required to complete her temporal creation. When she finally lets slip her secret venture, he agrees to help her. Through their combined efforts, they manage to finish the time machine. Imperfect but functioning, it's more than either of them could have hoped for.

It's not the only thing that's been created either as they find themselves with a vested interest in one another that grows by the day . . .

But time is a tricky thing, and not something easily mastered. With each improvement made upon the machine, it seems another problem presents itself. Even worse is the unspoken fear that the very thing that brought them together could be the same thing to tear them apart.

Ultimately, the pair of time travelers will come to a revelation: when faced with the past and future alike, contending with the present becomes that much more difficult.
