Excerpt: Ray the Janitor

Ray arrived at the school where he worked as a janitor. He had worked there for about a dozen years and he liked his working conditions. He was free to go about his work without interference from his supervisor or any of the other people who worked there. Even if he arrived late in the morning, there was nobody who was going to give him grief about it. He took lunch breaks when it suited him. He wasn't tied down to a strict schedule. And when the work was done in the afternoon, he could leave early without anybody blinking an eye. In other words, he was free to come and go as he liked as long as he got his work done. His work load was not that heavy so that was just as it should be. In fact, he loved his job.
