Synopsis: Idiodyssey- The Odyssey of an Idiot
Satu, the supreme being of the world, is constantly drawing creation. Unfortunately, she just dropped her eraser, and must enlist the help of some of her creations to retrieve it!
The world is a picture, and it's drawn by a crazy Canadian deity who loves to doodle. She theoretically draws the wonder and beauty of creation- in practice, she generally doodles kitties and the like. She just drew a random adorable dragon, but she forgot to draw it to scale- so it can only be described as ginormous, and hungry. Oh noes!
She puts down her Pencil of Might and reaches for her Eraser of Truth- but whoops! She dropped it! :O Now, Satu can't reach into her drawing, but her stuff sure can- so now we have a huge dragon rampaging through the world, with the Eraser of Truth chilling at the bottom of the ocean.
Doodling a messenger named Meron, Satu enlists the help of a bunch of random girls to recover the eraser... and save the world.
~Characters~
Satu- The ditzy, Canadian creator of the universe, Satu dropped her Eraser of Truth, and now the world's in trouble!
Anneka- Anneka can't figure out why the universe is run by such a ditz, nor why she has to go fetch an eraser, divine though it might be.
Sounder- Sounder is one of Anneka's best friends, though a little saner. She has no idea why she has to go on this quest either.
Bihan- She's crazy, plain and simple. She doesn't want to help- she's just going along in case she gets to kill something (or someone).
Sumi- A tall, crazy lesbian, Sumi is going along partially to keep an eye on Anneka, but partially to find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow- a metaphor, she's sure, for a land of gay people.
Meron- A magical golden chicken and Satu's messenger, she's there to keep everyone on task and make sure the quest moves forward- but there's something shiny over there!
Excerpt: Idiodyssey- The Odyssey of an Idiot
Satu leaned back in her chair, groaning. “Dammit~! I can’t stop that dragon without my Eraser!” She pushed her medium-length brown hair back from her face and straightened her glasses, staring glumly at the paper in front of her.
Satu was an artist, through and through. There were certain things she drew more often than others, and there was a particular style she usually used. She was terribly picky with her drawings, and would erase and redraw the smallest detail a dozen times before she was satisfied. Still, though she constantly tried to find a way to get better, she was secretly pretty satisfied with her art.
Oh, and by the way, she was a deity of sorts, whose art formed the entire world. Just f.y.i.
Satu wasn’t really sure where she’d come from. She’d just opened her eyes to find herself sitting at her desk with a huge sheet of blank paper in front of her. Grabbing a pencil, she’d immediately started drawing. Her first drawings hadn’t been so good, so she’d constantly been scribbling through them and starting again. This had manifested itself in the world through various mass extinctions, geological incidents, natural disasters and the occasional spontaneous combustion. As her art had gotten better, the world had settled down a bit, but every once in a while, she’d throw an artistic tantrum and pretty much wipe out the majority of the world.
Now, there were a few rules that even the creator of the world had to follow, though she didn’t know where they’d come from. Maybe there was someone above her, maybe it was how the universe worked- she really wasn’t sure, but she did know that she couldn’t break these rules. She was able to draw anything into being that she wanted, but it could only exist within her paper. The paper was, as far as she could gather, in a different existence from her. To its inhabitants, it was a three-dimensional world. Satu supposed she could be in another dimension, but she’d heard that the fourth dimension was time- she couldn’t mess with that, and time tended to be rather linear from her point of view, so that probably wasn’t it. She liked to think of herself as being in something along the lines of the 789th dimension- but, if questioned, she would have to admit that she had no idea what she was talking about. To her, the paper had two forms. When she drew, it was flat, just a large sheet of simple paper. When she put her arms on the desk and leaned her head down to watch, it became a miniature, three-dimensional world. As soon as she picked up her Pencil of Might and set to work, though, it was nothing but a piece of paper.
While she could draw anything into the world, she couldn’t enter it herself. Every time she tried to reach into it, it was as though an invisible barrier stopped her. She figured it had to do with that dimension thing.
At the moment, though, Satu had bigger worries than mindfucking herself over which dimension she inhabited. She usually remembered to draw things to scale, but she’d just recently figured out a new way to draw dragons. Excited by this new talent, she’d accidentally thrown proportion out the window and drawn an enormous, yet adorable, dragon. Once she’d completed her drawing (giving it a nice pink and black color scheme, of course), she’d set down her Pencil. She wasn’t sure why, but when she set her Pencil down for the final time, her drawing would come to life. Just after she set down her Pencil, she realized something. It was umm… maybe a little too big? Just a tad?
…ok. It was enormous. It was bigger than some of the islands she’d drawn.
Now, the problem was that Satu had to figure out how to get rid of the dragon. She’d reached immediately for her Eraser of Truth, of course, but in her haste, she’d dropped it.
It was at this point that Satu had discovered another rule about her existence. Though she herself could never reach into the world she’d created, her Eraser, she’d learned, could fall right in. She’d immediately put down her Pencil so she could see what would happen. The two-dimensional paper had sprung to life into a miniature, three-dimensional world. She’d watched as her Eraser fell into the ocean that covered the western end of her world.
Momentarily forgetting the rules that had governed her entire life, Satu had reached down to pick up the Eraser, but had only found her hand bouncing off of the invisible barrier that had thwarted her since day one.
Now, most people would, upon running into a wall that had always been there, figured that maybe that wasn’t the way to get in. Satu, though, had never been a terribly rational person. She reached down into the clouds again and again, bouncing off of the invisible barrier every single time. Eventually tiring off this rather pointless and fruitless exercise, Satu leaned back in her chair, groaning in frustration.
She frowned slightly, thinking. What were her options? Let’s see. She couldn’t reach into her world. So how to get the Eraser back?
She leaned forward again, watching the world. She smiled slightly, watching as a group of girls had a party on one of the little islands she’d doodled. She liked that island- she’d been trying for so long to draw a perfect little place to live, and at least it seemed perfect. It was her best background work ever, in her opinion.
Wait a second… A thought had occurred to Satu. She couldn’t reach into the world… but her creations could. Maybe one of them could retrieve the Eraser and…
…ok, so the plan wasn’t perfect or anything, but she’d figure it out. Maybe she could get one of them to actually use the Eraser on the dragon. It was worth a try.
She thought about how to send her message to the group. She could just talk to them, but then they’d think they were crazy, wouldn’t they? Anyways, she’d wanted to try her hand at drawing a chicken for so long.
She could use the little eraser on her Pencil of Might to make tiny corrections, though it couldn’t completely erase a creature’s existence. In the mean time, though, it would be good enough to make a few… minor adjustments.
