Synopsis: Threefold
The foretellings are explicit, unambiguous -- and utterly contradictory.
One prophecy is this: The three men, one at each corner of the world and each marked by a divine hand, will stand against the threat of the Abandoned, and will cast it down.
The other prophecy is this: One will be chosen as the savior of mankind. He will fight the battle alone, and you will know him by his holy mark, which only he will bear.
As the world slowly descends into chaos, the divine priesthood frantically tries to reconcile the two prophecies. The signs have been read: They know that whomever the gods have chosen will soon show the mark, and that the priesthood must begin the search.
Meanwhile, a bright young apprentice-mage named Aden struggles with the necessity of hiding his relationship with another man. Leoven feels the strain of the secrecy as well, but it is the least of his worries -- recently he has begun waking up in places he doesn't remember going, or lacking memories of hours or sometimes days.
An off-hand comment from Aden connects the pieces of the riddle in Leoven's head, and even as he stares in confused fear at the picture starting to form, the priesthood begins its search... and the Abandoned begin their hunt.
The foretellings are always accurate, and the priesthood is about to receive an unpleasant surprise...
