Excerpt: Reality 2.0
Prologue:
It seems to me that I ought to leave some sort of mark here, tattooed on the space between everything, while I still have the chance.
I'd really like to explain how things came to be what they are, but I don't think I have the time before this space closes. At any rate, I still don't understand it myself.
I could tell you who I am, but it seems self-important and silly to try. Who I am doesn't matter much, I don't think. It may seem like I'm important, when you look at everything that I've done, but I'm probably not. I might well have been any person at all, and just because important things happened to me doesn't mean I matter more than the ones who never made it here.
It just means I was here, and they were somewhere else, and everyone did what they could. And I'd use this space to tell about some of them, instead of myself, but unfortunately I've only got my side of it.
There are a lot of things I could say, and very little that would help you.
So, really, I'd just like to say: good luck, from me to you.
Just as it doesn't matter who I am, it also doesn't matter who finds this. You could be anyone. What matters is that you're here, on the wrong side of it all, crawling through the order and the madness. Just like I am. And that means things have gone sideways. Again.
So, whoever you are, why ever you're here, with complete sincerity and with all the sympathy in the world: good luck.
If you're reading it -- if you see this -- you need it.
Love,
Milicent
