And you would easily stand alone
an excerpt
"This wasn't it yet?" Whatever 'it' was, this looked disturbingly like it. "What exactly are we looking for?"
"The big mystery." Ulysses leaned against the wall.
Actually leaned against the wall.
It took a while before the news hit Fabian, and then it reverbated through every nerve in his body.
He hadn't touched a single thing since he died. Not a wall, not furniture, not even the air. Even the different types of ground under his feet didn't register as different, it all just had a concrete-like texture, even if he was standing on dirt or grass.
It was still uncomfortably strange to him, but he was starting to get used to it. He still entered rooms through the door even though other ghosts just went through whereever space was convenient at the time. He still respected people's privacy, which seemed to be a strange concept to most ghosts. He was still surprised every time a living person walked straight through him. The grainy texture and the under-water like atmosphere of the living world still quirked him.
He was still half expecting to wake up.
And Ulysses was leaning against the wall. It seemed so natural.
He remembered trying to sit down on a tombstone. Before that, he remembered backing into the wall of the ambulance and spilling out into the street, where a barrage of cars drove over and through him. He still avoided cars as much as he could.
"What mystery?" he asked her as he touched the wall. He could feel every groove between the tiles - the mortar even had a different texture than the tiles, and the floor was concrete, but a different type of concrete than everything outside. "What are they doing here?"
"Well that's the mystery. Go take a look."
