Brief Author Bio:

I am a belly dancing crafty finance geek with a love for computers. I become a writer every November, if only because my hobbies take up too much of my time the rest of the year!

Synopsis:

Two sisters, one who trusts too little and one who trusts too much, are forced to learn from one another after a life change for the both of them.

Excerpt:

They were both asleep in bed when a sound downstairs startled Camille awake. She glanced over at Danny, who was laying on his stomach, sound asleep. Trying to lay perfectly still, she closed her eyes and attempted to fall sleep again.

Something definitely made a sound downstairs. Camille opened her eyes again and waited, trying to go over the possibilities of where the noise was coming from and what could be making it. She came up with all of the usual ones of the house settling, something falling downstairs, and the sound actually coming from an animal outside the house.

Then she remembered that she had opened a window in the kitchen before leaving the house that morning.

She glanced back at Danny, who was still sound asleep, and slid sideways out of the bed. She quickly grabbed a bathrobe to cover herself up, because Danny waking up in the middle of the night to find her walking around was bad enough, but Danny waking up in the middle of the night to find her walking around with no clothes on was worse.

She crossed quietly to the window and checked the weather. There was a gently breeze blowing, hardly anything peculiar, though she wanted to close the window anyway in case her plants on the kitchen window sill were being knocked over. With one last glance at Danny, she left the room, carefully pulling the door open while pushing against the edge of it to keep the hinges from squeaking.

The entire house was carpet, so there was no worry about floor boards creaking. She crept carefully downstairs and headed silently to the kitchen. She had just crossed the threshold to the kitchen and noticed that the window was, in fact, closed, when someone grabbed her.

Her first instinct was not to shout, because she knew Danny had probably woken up and found her gone, and would be annoyed with her for being startled. She merely allowed herself to be loosely dragged out of the kitchen and spun around, preparing herself for his irritation.

Except the man she came face to face with was not Danny.

Danny was tall and lanky with a clean-shaven, open face, wide blue eyes, and soft black hair that was trimmed neatly every two weeks. The man currently crushing Camille’s wrist was short, overweight, had several days worth of stubble, and small, watery eyes. Camille took this opportunity to scream.
