Dash
an excerpt
Dash’s father, Herbert, was left to name his first son and fill out the birth certificate. His wife was too busy crying about her new baby. He tried his best to be a good man and he sincerely tried to name his first and only son after himself, his father, his grandfather, and his great grandfather (the original Herbert Wentworth Hasting Harrison) as he had planned. But Dash was too ugly, and his father just couldn’t bring himself to give his name to that thing. And so it passed that, Instead of being named Herbert Wentworth Hasting Harrison IV, as he would have been if he had looked normal, he wasn’t named anything at all. His father took the pen up in his shaky hand and simply put a ––– where he should have put a name.
