Excerpt: I Hate Zombies

Dark. Cold. Metal. Cramped. Naked? The man with these thoughts suddenly inhales deeply as if his lungs just started working. He tried to get up but quickly bumps his head on the incredibly low ceiling. He doesn’t even have enough room to reach up and rub where he hit it. Calming down, and getting a feel for his surroundings, he has no recollection of where he is, but he feels like he’d know if he could just see. He feels all around, and realizes he’s on a platform…with wheels? He feels over his head, and discovers the outline of a door. Taking a somewhat educated guess to his whereabouts, with the little legroom he has, he kicks the wall at the end of his little prison, and the platform rolls out, and he finds he was right. He sits up, and looks around the room. He’s in a hospital morgue. Naked, like he was a corpse. But he’s obviously alive. It’s not like he’s -
“YEEAAARGH!”
“Whoa!” He rolls out of his drawer, and gets up just in time to punch a crazed nurse right in the face. She doesn’t stop coming at him. Her eyes are dead, and she’s covered in blood that probably isn’t her own. Looking around, he finds a scalpel from one of the autopsy tables and stands at ready with it pointing at her. She doesn’t give it a second thought, and comes charging for him. He stabs her in the shoulder, and yet she persists. He grabs both of her arms, and find she’s stronger than she looks. He notices her looking at his hands, and suddenly she reaches over to the left one trying to bite it, but he quickly lets go, and grabbing the whole tray of various sharp medical objects, flings it at her face. This temporarily blinds her, giving him ample time to run out of the morgue.
He looks back just as the doors are closing to see her pull a scalpel out of her eye, without even batting said eye. “Not that I don’t enjoy waking up naked with a woman in the room, but she definitely wasn’t who I had in mind.”
