The Dark, Cold Minutes of Night
an excerpt
A group of religious, overly-concerned geocentrics filled the streets, protesting in front of the heavily guarded scientific lab, ready to strike at any moment if the mostly feline group of Christian breeds decided to force some violence through. It wasn't too rare that this would occur; Religious institutions were ruled terrorist by the government. It only served to strengthen cause for uprising, giving them more cause to go against the root causes of their religions. Defying the word of Christ, Christians themselves would bomb, shoot, and burn several of their enemies. Buddhists would rise to kill in the name of “God,” or, “Buddha,” regardless of their ignorance towards the fact that Buddha proclaimed himself not to be ever considered a god.
But common sense was losing its strength in the industrialized society. As chemical sharing and pollution became greater, the population lessened, due to the occasional flood and the horrible chemicals in the air, killing most only days after their birth. In such process, police agencies came to lack troops. Anarchy was once again taking over society, at society's own misguided mistakes.
A particular robotically dressed canine stood from above the ranting, religious crowd, shaking his head with a slight chuckle. Denying that the Earth revolved around the sun... He spat on one of them, a tabby cat with an obvious chip of her shoulder, who brought forth a paw and made a rude hand motion towards the younger recruit. The canine himself was just about 17, a scientist by nature, only allowed to carry a gun due to the recent upgrades in muscular and implant technology. He was a lot stronger than he was before, but under the suit he still maintained the nerdy scientist appearance. The black suit hid his young, lithe, tall body, a mutt of a sort. He was somewhat of the breed of a wolf, but only slightly, his furry hair wrapping around each metallic object attaching itself to one of the various plugs in his bioelectronic body.
