Foresight 2 - Name Pending
an excerpt

My phone rung and I answered it before the second ring.
“Creepy.” Landon, of course.
“Yeah. No fair, you weren’t even in it.”
“I guess I got lucky.” His laugh sounded only slightly less heart-flipping than it did when he was talking to me in person.
“Ha, whatever. You planning on sleeping again tonight?”
“I’d be kidding myself if I said I could.”
“True. At least I’ll try. I need to rest up.”
“Yeah, you do. Looking forward to tomorrow?”
“I can’t wait.” His laugh filled my ear again. It was the most beautiful sound in the world.
“Well you’re going to have to. I’ll see you there?”
“Sure, if you want. It is going to be a momentous occasion, after all.”
“Aren’t you going to miss it? Even just a little?”
“No way,” I said seriously, “It’s coming off and staying off. For good.” Another laugh.
“You’re going to jinx it you know. Don’t tempt fate; I think it already has something against you.”
“Maybe. Or maybe it just hates me. Actually, seeing as me being alive today is, you know, miraculous, maybe fate actually likes me.”
“You wouldn’t want to push it too far though.”
“True, true. Anyway, those of us who aren’t owls need their sleep right now.”
“See you tomorrow.”
Click.
Conversations like that at about midnight – or later – were almost becoming a routine for Landon and me. We also saw each other at every moment we could at school – we didn’t have the same classes some of the time, but some we shared, and I saw him in the breaks – also after school and weekends. Don’t freak out, we didn’t spend all that time together because of the visions we both saw or anything. The fact that we were an official couple had quite a lot to do with it. We had been dating since the Frangipani Dance – well, the second half of it – which was when I learned that Landon was psychic like me, that I could hear his thoughts and that we both loved each other.
So, everything worked out all peachy for me, didn’t it?
Wrong.
