Synopsis: Coffee Of Yore
Arg!
Okay, I'm not really sure this will be ChickLit, but it's not Y/A or Religious as I have written in the past.
What I have so far is a young widow who inherits a coffee shop in Ipswich, MA and in the process of running it discovers a trunk with some interesting stuff. Drama, some love and a timetraveler...
The other side of the story is set in medieval times. A female crossbow shooter who is in love with an older man and decides to shoot in a tournament as a man. Hilarity ensues, but it is a love story.
Yes, I have a lot to work out, but I feel very good about this! I even stopped in Ipswich to do some research on the way home from Boston. I'm very happy I did as I learned a lot!
Excerpt: Coffee Of Yore
“I’m leaving.”
“What do you mean you’re leaving? Where the hell do you think you’re going? You have no where to go. You have no money, no life!”
“Uncle Cheng left me his coffee shop. I’m going to run it.”
“You’re going to run a coffee shop? It will fail. You will fail. Have you ever even seen it? I’m sure it’s a dump, fit to be condemned! If you leave you’re going to come crawling back on your hands and knees within three months, begging me to take you back. And I might not do it! I might just let you stay out in the cold for a few weeks to learn that you don’t mess with me.”
“I’m leaving. I’m going to run the coffee shop. It’s going to work out and I’ll never be back. I’m divorcing you’re ass. How do you like that?”
Craig shook with fury and she knew he wanted to hit her. She pushed her chin a bit higher in the air, daring him to try it. His hands fisted at his sides and he turned to stalk out of the small, broken down house. She hoped it would be the last time she ever saw him. Little did she know, she was right.
