Synopsis: The Thirteenth Disciple

Fifteen-year-old Matthias' world is turned upside down when he meets John the Baptizer and then Jesus by the banks of the Jordan River. He must sacrifice everything to follow Jesus, and he does so willingly, walking away from the family he loves but who have no understanding of the change that's taken place in his heart. He spends the next three years as one of Jesus' closest companions, although he is devastated when he is not chosen as part of the twelve. Mentored by Judas Iscariot, he is then forced to take a stand for what is right even though it means losing yet another friendship. As a witness to Jesus' death and subsequent resurrection, Matthias finds a faith stronger than he ever imagined. Jesus heals him just before his ascension, but he was whole inside a long time before. And then he is chosen by the faithful followers of Jesus to replace Judas the traitor who betrayed the Beloved One. He is the Thirteenth Disciple.
