Brief Author Bio: I am a very energetic and verbose person when it comes to my writing, I can't stick to a maximum word count to save my life. Minimums are great, but maximums, you might as well throw out a window. I can't do it, I won't do it, and you can't make me do it! |

Synopsis: Demon Gate
Kara didn't want much. After being cursed by a dark wizard to take a beastial form at night, she ran away to protect people from her demonic half. She thought she had found the perfect place to hide, empty of people and plenty of wild game to hunt at night, but she is not alone in the wilderness.
Soon Kara encounters Mayline, the eldest daughter of a wizard, and a powerful witch herself. Mayline and her family use their power for good, and she agrees to help Kara. Not able to lift the curse, she at least makes it so that Kara remains herself when the sun sets despite her changed form.
Kara is content in her new life, until some strange and deadly things begin to happen to the members of the family. The Demon Gate has been opened, and now everything depends on Kara finding the courage to follow her destiny into the darkness.
Excerpt: Demon Gate
The wind whipped around her as she ran through the trees. The scent of the deer filled her nostrils, enticing her deeper into the dark woods. She paused; her ears perked forward listening. . . There, the gentle rustling of a cloven hoof in the fallen leaves. Her muscles tensed as the sound drew closer. The bush she hid behind broke as she slid beneath its branches.
The light of the moon beamed from behind a cloud, illuminating the skin of the white awl deer. Its antlers twisted and turned, and it picked at the leaves of the bush across the small clearing. She froze, half into a step as the deer turned and looked her direction, ears forward. It licked its lips twice, and then turned back to the bush.
She spread her wings wide as she leapt for the beast’s back. A sudden scream made the birds in the surrounding forest take flight into the night, and then all was silent again.
