Favorite writers: Jane Austen, Dorothy Sayers, GK Chesterton, CS Lewis, JRR Tolkien, Arthur Ransome

Favorite music: Bach Unaccompanied Cello Suites is my #1 favorite (I aspire to be able to play them on my cello someday!), For writing I prefer classical, but for jamming in the car I usually have either the Christian station on or Country. My kids fight over which one we listen to. It's pretty evenly divided between the two.

Non-noveling interests: knitting, gardening, home improvements, training for a triathlon (my first!), taekwondo, playing cello, sewing, quilting, bogging, playing with my kids, spending time with my husband (these interests not necessarily in order of priority!)

Brief Author Bio:

I graduated from Canoe U (U.S. Naval Academy) in 1985. Got out of the navy after three kids and five years as a communications officer. Now have ten kids, a Golden Retriever, a very messy house and a very understanding husband.

We lived in northern England from 2000-2003, during which time I caught the writing bug. I wrote several travel articles for the National Catholic Register and a human interest piece for Catholic World Report. I've been active online with Catholic Writer's Online. I've only written news-type articles, never tried fiction before, so this is a huge creative leap for me.

My ideas are swimming about in my head, trying to burst out. Now, if I can just make sense of them!

Synopsis: Angel of God

Angel of God is a story of healing and redemption in the midst of pain and suffering.

Miah Saleem is the daughter of an Italian-American Catholic woman and a Pakistani Muslim man. After her mother's death when Miah was 5 years old, her distraught father takes her from her home in San Francisco, to live with his relatives in Karachi, Pakistan. Miah's life journey takes her across the globe in search of the answers that will give meaning to her life. As she uncovers her past, she must face her pain and find the hope for her future. Is there meaning in all this suffering? Miah must find the answer to that question.

“Is everything okay, Papa?” Miah asked.
“Of course,” said Papa. “It’s just that I finished this job earlier than expected and I came home to tell you about another job they have asked me to do.” He nervously fidgeted with his pockets and shoved his hands deep into them to stop the fidgeting. “I’ll have to go away for a while,” he said.
“Oh,” said Miah. “How long?”
“It could be months.”
“When do you have to leave?”
“They want me to start tomorrow,” Papa said, with a furrowed brow and downcast eyes.
“But what about my graduation?” said Miah.
“I’m sorry, Miah, but I won’t be able to be there.” Papa’s look of sorrow was so striking that Miah immediately forgot all concern for herself.
“That’s okay, Papa,” she said, as she stood on tip toes to kiss his forehead. “I understand.”
“I’m really sorry, Miah,” said Papa. “So I wanted to give you your graduation present a bit early.” As he spoke, he pulled a fat envelope from his shirt front. It was an envelope from the Bank of Karachi and it contained several paychecks worth of money.
“Papa!” exclaimed Miah. “You shouldn’t have!”
“I’ve been saving it for quite some time,” he said. “It’s for you, so you can go to school in America.”
“Oh, Papa!” Miah squealed with delight as she flung her arms around him and gave him a tearful hug.
