Synopsis: Sisters
It is about two sister, Lily and Lara. It is told in Lily's point of view. Pretty much, it is about sister's and how you have to hide secrets that you know about each other from your parents and such. And what happens when the hiding backfires and the person that you though you were protecting ends up getting hurt.
Pretty much the sister is a cutter, is getting into drugs, and drinking. Also, Lily really like Lara's boyfriend and something is happening there. So yeah...
She feels like she has it undercontrol and she promised her sister that she wouldn't tell her sister after something happened to Lily, few years back. And it was something that Lily tries to forget, but just can't.
Excerpt: Sisters
I know what everyone is thinking, why haven't I told anyone about my sister. Lets be honest. We all keep secrets and sometimes they are as simple as a summer day, but sometimes the complexity is not measurable by an means. If I told anyone my sister's secret, people would get hurt with the fact that I have been hiding it for three years. Well, at least the cutting part. The drinking part is only a secret to my mom and dad, who are stuck with rose colored glasses covering their eyes. I also could not stand the disappointment on my parents faces, when they knew who had be hiding Lara's secrets.
Later in the afternoon, Lara came into my room and plopped on to my bed all dramatically and grabbed Looking for Alaska by John Green out of my hands and set it down on my bed. "So, about we were talking about earlier, Chloe's parents are going on some couple therapy crap for about two weeks. So, that means that there will be a party next weekend. You can bring Craig or whoever, just say that you will come. It won't be such a blast without you. So come! I won't drink if you come."
"I guess so. When does this shindig happen?" I ask without trying to sound annoyed.
"It is on Saturday at 7ish. You know where Chloe's house is, right?"
"Of course. " I think that Lara forgets about her trip to the popular side and how she was ditched. Then she started hanging out with my then friends and now, they are more of her friends. Oh well, life happens.
She rolls off my bed and stands up, "Awesome. I'll tell Hunter and Chloe that you will be coming." Lara skips into the bathroom and back to her room.
I grab my cellphone and dial Craig's phone number, "Hello Darling!"
Craig starts laughing so much that he probably appears be having a seizure. "Lily, you need to stop doing that. I am going to actually shit my pants from laughing one of these days."
"If that happens, you have to tell me. That would be the most hilarious thing ever. Anyways I have something to ask you." I pick at my nails as I am talking on the phone.
"Okay, but I can't make an promises." I know that he probably thinks that it will some creepy and unusual request.
"Lara invited me to Chloe's party and I really don't want to go alone. If you come, I will love you forever."
"Are there going to be any cute boys there?"
I pause. Craig's definition of cute is sort of preppy, while mine is more of the failed rock star type. "I think that their will be a few guys that are your type, but I don't think any of them will be gay."
"I guess I can come and stare at them, until they get intimidated and walk away."
I start laughing, "That will be super fierce."
"I can break out my leather pants and we can partay."
I can't stop laughing, "We are going to totally rock it. Lara also promised that she won't drink."
"You know that she is lying. She holds drinks in her hand like a baby holds a bottle."
I know that Craig is telling the truth, but he won't let me hope for the best. Maybe it is, because he knows that I try to lie to myself in the littlest ways."Maybe she can change for once."
He sighs, "How many times I have I told you that you sister is like a mule? She will never change."
"You have told me about a million times, but everything changes. If nothing changed, we would still be hunting naked." I say this which such conviction that it makes me believe that I am not lying, again.
Craig laughs, "I wish that only guys walked around naked."
I giggle. Craig is one of those people that can make any situation funny. I guess that is why we are best friends. "I think that I might piss my pants, if all the guys were naked. Though it would be easy to tell, if they like me."
Craig is laughing his ass off on the other side of the phone. "You know that the guy would be only happy, because he was looking over your shoulder and is checking out my package."
"Yeah Right! He is only happy, because he is near a pretty girl like me and his package will be so much bigger then yours. This is starting to get on the creepy side."
"I think so, too. I am having a horrible picture playing in my head. I have something to tell you about show choir." Craig is in show choir and has some odd addiction to it. He also has a crush on the lead alto, Jake Truman. He is really cute and also straight, which might be a problem for Craig. He is also going out with Danielle Strickland, which was Craig's girl before he admitted that he was gay.
"What?" I will be honest, (I don't understand Craig's love of show choir, maybe it is because the only note that I can hold is on a Post-it.)
Craig sighs, "I think that I got the part of Mortiz in Those You've Known"
I laugh. Craig has the perfect hair for Mortiz. We skipped school to go see Spring Awakening in Seattle last year. "Who is Melchior and Wendla?"
"Who do you? Danielle will be singing for Wendla and Jake will be Melchior." Craig sighs again. Danielle has an amazing voice and his theory is that he needs to become a soprano, in order for Jake to want him. This sounds kind of crazy and a very odd theory like most things. We all have crazy theories, about 9/11 and swine flu. Most of them are false, but a few are true. We just can't prove the few that are true yet.
"I have to go." I lie. Sometimes, I hate that I can't understand Craig fully. It makes me feel horrible like part of me is mixed into my sister's craziness that I don't understand other people. I pick up, Looking for Alaska and dive back into reading.
