Synopsis:
This isn't a definite synopsis; either the tone may become darker or there will be a complete plot overhaul.
Miranda Blackburn is sick of everything. Her pretentious older sister refuses to be called anything other than Felicity Faye, which wouldn’t be so ridiculous if she didn’t speak in a fake deep voice. Mrs. Grey, her evil English teacher, called Mira’s parents last week to tell them that she never turned in those three essays. Other teachers have noticed her indifference to schoolwork also, so now Mira’s grounded until future notice. Her friends seem to be hiding important secrets. Mira caught Fiona slipping into a hill once- yes, a hill, though that seems to be more her questionable sanity than Fiona’s secret liaison with a pile of dirt. Fio appears to have a secret boyfriend, Alasdair Woodworth, who Mira affectionately calls “that bastard.” And that joke theory that her closest friend, Guinevere Leroy, might secretly be a pirate looks more plausible as the days pass. Insane doesn’t begin to describe it.
Sebastian Morland is quite annoyed. His cousin Fiona Greensbridge brought her boyfriend, who happens to be his best friend, into this whole fairy-magic bullshit. How on earth could practical Dair buy into that mystical fantasy land? To make matters worse, Mrs. Grey requested a private conference with Seb, meaning he bombed that crap essay. Sebastian Morland does not fail; his teachers just suck at grading sometimes.
But Seb’s observant, and he notices that something’s off about Miranda Blackburn. He doesn’t know what it is, but if it has something to do with Fiona’s stupid fantasy land, he will kill someone. No charm, lies, and sarcasm will get him out of this mess, though he’ll damn well try.
Under the façade of normalcy hides another universe where magic reigns supreme. Average human minds like Miranda's cannot comprehend this. Too bad Sebastian figures that it’s all in his head.
