Excerpt:

When I tell this story, people always ask why I remember the minutes. They are always curious why I cared so much about the time after such a monumental event had occurred in my life. “Why not just remember it was on a Wednesday?” they ask. It took me a while to come up with the answer, because truthfully, I was not always sure myself.
What I have decided, however, is that I remembered the minutes because it is the minutes that count in life.
When people speak about time, they speak in terms of hours. But so much can happen in an hour that you have to speak in minutes. People can die or have their lives turned upside down within seconds, so why are we still so general? I was the kind of person who lived life by the hour, not really paying attention to everything in between. I didn’t try to do something productive whenever I could, and when I did focus on doing something, I rarely followed through entirely.
At 5:28 on that Wednesday, however, I realized that the minutes count much more in life than we think.
