Synopsis: The Moon Maidens
14 year old Triss Howells gets drawn into a community of magic and a foreign religion. As her story progresses, so does the not so unfamiliar story of her mother. The two follow their destiny around many loopholes and obstacles until finally, the end is clear to them both.
Excerpt: The Moon Maidens
To the other two in the room, for Rose had not managed to get into the trance-like state, to them, Triss was shaking around and uttering little animal like noises of fear. The old woman looked up,
“She is seeing. Quick, Rose, pour your water into the cauldron and draw out new, Triss may need sustinance when this is over. It was a fool who let her under go this before breakfast.” Rose carried out the instructions and sat humbly on the floor by Triss. The old woman stood up and walked over to where Triss was sitting.
“Tristicia, daughter of the moon, I command you in the name of all that is righteous and good, tell me, what is it that you see.” Triss carried on moaning for a while until her head lifted. Rose gasped as she saw that her pupils had dialated wider than any usual pupil, but the ancient woman seemed unpeturbed. She instead repeated her last command and waited until Triss started to speak.
“I saw a man, dressed as the deer. He was running with them and it appeared that there was a spirit woman with him. The two were highly linked as if it was more than just friendship or duty. He was running with the herd, hoping that he might survive to be with the woman who’s spirit was with him. They ran by a large inscribed stone, and the stone circle split in half. That is all lady.” Triss’ head dropped again as if to continue seeing, but the old woman clapped her hands,
