Synopsis: Lessons Learned
Going back to old school with this year's NaNo. Last time I did a totally original work of fiction and two years before that, I did Stargate Fanfiction. This year, I'm going back to my most prolific original character and in her favorite fandom. Yes, this year it's going to be Grace Hammond and Angel. (Thank you Medie for the loving push to a) try them on my own and b) reminding me to sign up.)
Excerpt: Lessons Learned
From the tone in the man's voice, Gunn knew that this was something he did on a regular basis. Grace had warned both he and Cordelia repeatedly about these kinds of immortals. Headhunters, she had called them. Thing was, they did not generally hunt the heads of older immortals. Someone of Grace's age was to be feared and respected by other immortals. Living over a thousand years was a feat that very few immortals achieved. So generally, headhunters sought out young immortals who had just been released from their teacher's protection. Now, this man did not know that Gunn still technically had a teacher. It was why he said, "Okay, I don't have no teacher."
"Perfect," the man said, charging with his sword.
Gunn's last thought before focusing completely on the fight was that Fred would point out that a double negative created a positive and what Gunn had actually just said was that he did have a teacher. But the other immortal had missed it too and now the fight was on.
