Synopsis:
In an attempt to assassinate the king, Xander is inadvertently sent to the 21st century, where he meets Luke, a lonely average Joe who unintentionally accompanies Xander when he returns to the Middle Ages. The two then team up, despite their dislike for each other, in order to make their way to the fortress so that Xander can usurp the throne and Luke can go home. But things are rarely that easy.
Excerpt:
The intruder easily recognized the familiar voice of the king, who, if things had gone according to plan, should have been dead in his bed by now.
My name is Luke, and I'll be honest with you: I'm just not very popular.
"Alright . . . can you do anything useful?"
"I can play the harmonica."
"So since time travel is possible, does this mean you can do other kinds of magic?"
"Don't be silly, boy. There's no such thing as magic. This is science."
"I once went to a tavern by the name of The Sitting Duck. Boy, did that get burned down a lot of times."
