Brief Author Bio:

Reading/Language Arts middle school teacher in Maryland (spent most of my life in California, Idaho and Nebraska)...love reading and writing, and my creative writing professor, Mr. Hermanson (hehe) introduced me to NaNoWriMo. (Thank you!)

This will be my SECOND NaNoWriMo. I'm in the midst of forming a Book Club with my 7th grade students, and I hope we'll be able to spend November writing our novels (I know I will be...but can I rope all of them in?!)

Synopsis: A Deadly Crush

This is my THIRD attempt at a plot outline in the last week, but I think I finally have a WINNER... Here goes:

Shawn and Sara have a pretty normal, satisfying life. They have been married for a little over two years and are looking forward to a family. Everything seems to be going according to plan, until he is rear-ended on his way home from work one evening. His car is totaled and Shawn wakes up in the middle of a large blood transfusion.

Shawn spends a few months at home recovering, and when he gets the "okay" to go back to work he's more than ready to leave the house! As a type of thank you for all they'd given him, Shawn visits the local Blood Bank and donates his own blood, which gives him a great feeling. It only goes bad when, about ten days later, he receives a letter in the mail requesting that he visit the office again; the bank cannot accept his blood, because he has tested positive for HIV. They would like him to return to the office for second screening and a discussion about his 'options.'

Shawn is distraught. At first he doesn't know what to do --how to tell Sara that he won't be able to give her the family and the future he'd promised her on their wedding day? How to explain to her that they cannot have physical contact for now, until he finds out what's really going on? And then he's furious. Furious in defense of his own rights and his own life...his own dreams. Where have they gone?

Shawn secretly decides to seek revenge on everyone who's had any part in the car wreck/surgery/blood transfusion that's caused him to contract this horrible virus. He's going to spread this fatal illness to each and every participant, starting with the teenage boy that was careless enough to cause the car wreck on that Saturday afternoon so many months ago.
