Synopsis: Three Dark Roses
Imagine a land where the spirit of people’s hearts was made visible, embedded in rich-hued roses. In this land, kingsheart blooms in all weather, from the coldest winter to the hottest summer, the battle between good and evil is not fought with guns or swords, but with melodies and roses. In the looming shadows of coming persecution, three individuals confront their biggest questions.
Abigail loses her entire family to Deathroot’s evil. As she struggles with her physical and emotional health, a bigger question arises: how many times can a heart break before the pain is too much to live with?
Joel is obsessed with evil, perhaps because righteousness is overdone. Even when forced to harm those closest to him, Joel doesn’t flinch. But when unforeseen circumstances place him face to face to those who he hurt most, Joel has a bigger challenge to face: can righteousness redeem one who embraces evil?
As a healer, or Shoshannah, Micah is totally devoted to the King. But when his son Joel rebels against all Micah holds dear, Micah has a choice to make. How do you love someone who is determined to be your enemy?
Excerpt: Three Dark Roses
Don’t move. My eyes squeeze shut like a hiding child. The air throbs with my enemy’s approach. Go away, goaway-goaway. Terror pulls the air from my lungs in an unwilling scream. Save me. Save me.
Dissonance presses against my heart; everything fades…
Flickering candlelight caresses my eyelids. “Abigail, can you hear me? Child?” Despite pain stabbing my body, relief floods my mind. Scarlet streaks blur my vision as I open my eyes.
“My son did his best, but he was still worried about you.” Familiar molasses-brown eyes peer down on me.
"Joel?” Did I hear correctly? He doesn’t know how…he doesn’t even care. Joel’s father smiles and answers my unspoken question. “He was commanded to,”
Commanded? A strange hope stirs my soul. The King?
He slips an arm behind my neck, raising my head. “Drink.” A clay mug sends up steamy plumes into my nostrils.
I try to force down the bitter liquid, coughing and sputtering.
“Go back to sleep, Abigail.” He dabs my lips with a handkerchief. “Rest.”
My eyelids are heavy, so heavy…”What…what is your name?”
“Micah.” Distant breezes blow the word to my ears. “My name is Micah
