Excerpt: It's Midnight Again

“What did you tell our parents?” Aaron asked. He was kind a little curious. Scott was really bad at lying.
“I told them we had a project due and we were staying at a friend’s house to get it done,” Scott shrugged.
“What did you tell Amber?”
“That was a little harder,” he admitted. “’Sorry, honey, but my soul was extracted to make a sword and until we can figure out a way to keep it on my person but not make it obvious I’m toting a huge as sword around I’m kind of stuck in this weird old house with two guys’.”
“Please tell me you didn’t say that to her,” Aaron said, mostly to hide his shock.
