Excerpt: Untitled
"Why did the dragon explode?" Gina asked.
"There was a fad recently that had Heroes using explosive weapons, but I think this one was vanquished more traditionally. It was probably a spear to the lungs. Dragons have two sets of lungs -- a set for breathing and a set for flying/breathing fire. If he or she pierced the latter, the flammable gases inside would have gone up instantly."
Gina's brow furrowed. "Wouldn't that mean the Hero would die too?" She did a double take and looked back at Francie, wide eyed. "Is the corpse of the Hero somewhere around here?"
Francie frowned. "No, I don't think so. Whoever they were is damn lucky if they managed to survive. Maybe it was an arrow."
Gina's desire to see Rose and Jonny finally won out over her curiosity. "OK, thanks. I gotta get home."
"You're to be here at seven, sharp," Francie said before turning back to her own tasks.
Gina walked into the portal with Jamie, seeing a bright blue-white flash as the transportation occurred.
