Synopsis: Earth and Sky

Jared Ren, a young arcane mage and beastmaster out of his training to be a Trail Rider completes his training but is kept from joining the ranks do to his poor and failing eyesight. However because he is a Niradine, meaning he is a master of his giving mage power, he is given a captains position in the personal guard of the leader of his homeland Sage Malic. It is a high honor. Jared takes the position because he needs something to do to please his new in-laws he acquired from an arrange marriage his ambitious mother got him roped into and also Sage Malic promises to show him away to over-come his weaknesses.
However during one of the most crucial missions to protect Malic during a parade procession in the capital city, Malic gets attacked and killed. Jared is injured since the magic item used to kill Malic was made to tear apart his ability to shield and progressing his blindness to the point he can no longer see. Yet Malic left them a message that he knew this would happen. Jared wants to find out who did as well as prove himself as a beastmaster and as an arcane mage.
