“Star light, star bright,” she murmured as she centered on one star that seemed to grasp her attention the most, “first star I see tonight. I wish I may, I wish I might, have this wish I wish tonight.” Even though she found herself mentally laughing at the fact that she’d even just uttered the childish rhyme, Mara sighed and began to think about what she wanted most right now. There had to be something she could wish for that she couldn’t just ask Richard for.
“Happiness,” she found herself saying in a hushed tone. It was a foolish wish, but it seemed fitting. It was no doubt she could put up a good façade, but it would be nice to have something so real, even if just for a while. “I wish for happiness…”
