Synopsis: Searching for Home

Crystal Ann Miller not only lost her mom, she lost her home, her friends, her collection of strange and unusual objects that made her her when she moved west with her family. A new beginning, as her Dad put it. Plopped into a coal camp in the middle of nowhere, Utah, she is faced with a harsh land that holds a hidden secret--just like her. Both secrets carry great danger. One, should it be discovered, could destroy her world; the other could destroy the whole world. Can a 12 year old girl, pretending to be a boy so she can work in the coal mine, risk alienating her new friends and destroying the tentative happiness her family is beginning to enjoy to save the world from the greed of one man?
