Excerpt: Up the Ladder

There was a desk made out of a door. There was a 60-lb 19" monitor on it which was displaying pictures of naked people covered in dust and glitter. There was an orange plastic chair in front of the desk. And there was a plate stacked with identical peanut butter, mayonnaise and lettuce sandwiches on the chair.
